Small business IT usually grows organically — a router installed by one person, email set up by another, software bought over the years by whoever needed it. The knowledge lives in people's heads. 3. Devices: a simple list of computers, who uses them, their age, and what's installed that matters.
4. Software and subscriptions: what you pay for, renewal dates, licence keys.
5. Backups: what's backed up, where, and how to restore it.
6. Who to call: your IT support, internet provider, software vendors — with account references handy.

Store it securely (not on a sticky note)

This document is sensitive. Keep it in a password manager's secure notes or an encrypted file — with at least two trusted people able to access it. The goal is that no single person's absence, resignation or lost laptop can lock the business out of its own systems.
